"You can't divorce the economic crisis we have in this country and particularly the rising cost of oil and energy, with our foreign policy." - Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX)

Congressman Ron Paul

There's no way around it—sooner or later, the United States will have to talk to Iran. To illustrate this point, regular Americans off the street had the opportunity to sit down and have a conversation with regular Iranians on the phone, as volunteers translated, at the "Time To Talk With Iran" event.

Held on Capitol Hill on the sweltering hot morning of June 10, 2008, the event included a press conference with numerous speakers including six members of Congress- Lynn Woolsey (D-CA), Barbara Lee (D-CA), Ron Paul (R-TX) Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-TX), Marcy Kaptur (D-OH), and former Congressman Bob Barr (R-GA), now a Libertarian candidate for President.

Congressman Ron Paul, just two days before formally announcing his withdrawal from the 2008 Presidential race, gave a speech on the futility of not talking to Iran and the dire effect war would have on the U.S. economy. Exclusive video of the entire speech below:
