Massud ‘Mike’ Shahin Nury, a Korean War veteran and entrepeneur who lived to 100, was 27 years old when this letter to The San Francisco Chronicle was printed. At the time Iranian-Americans would often attempt to
elucidate people on the oil nationalization movement in their homeland.

Editor—In the article, by Royce Brier, “Iran and a Revolutionary Rule,” in The Chronicle, it stated: “This wealth (the oil revenue) has not filtered down to the masses, and they have lived under a sense of exploitation.”
Although it is true that the Iranian government has failed to put the oil revenue to the best possible use, this “sense of exploitation” on the part of the Iranian people is a true one, and it springs to a large extent from the unfair
practices of the Anglo-Iranian Oil Co. and the British “diplomats”
in Iran. I know this because I was raised in that torn country.
Had Mr. Brier been more familiar with recent history of Iran, I am sure he would not persist to maintain this one-sided view on the Iranian oil issue.
