University campuses in the United States are well known as scenes of political activism. One major focus of dissent, peaking in the 1970’s, was U.S. foreign policy toward Iran.
In on-scene reports, editorials and letters, student newspapers at American colleges chronicled these persistent anti-Shah demonstrations throughout the 60’s and 70’s. Years of protest culminated in the 1979 revolution which led to
heated clashes, on school campuses and throughout the country, over the hostage crisis.
This collection, dating back to the 1951 oil nationalization era, preserves this record from the student perspective. Despite the scarcity of info at the time about the CIA coup in 1953, it was a commonly cited grievance.
